Apple introduces iCloud

Apple introduces iCloud - Introducing iCloud, a breakthrough set of free new cloud services that work seamlessly with applications on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac or PC. “Today it is a real hassle and very frustrating to keep all your information and content up-to-date across all your devices”, said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “iCloud keeps your important information and content up to date across all your devices. All of this happens automatically and wirelessly, and because it’s integrated into our apps you don’t even need to think about it — it all just works”. [Apple UK Hot News]

The iCloud, the end of 'Mobile Me' and for FREE! It will be interesting to see if the same services are available for those who own an OS X Server, ie, when Lion Server ships, will there be an Private iCloud option?

The standard iCloud service includes a limited amount of Storage, although this inclusive amount, is not affect by purchase from the Apple App Store, or iTunes etc. And a one off fee will scan you music library and replicate it in iCloud from the library of the iTunes store, meaning you don't need to upload everything... presumably doing this by links to the music files rather than the files themselves...

It will be interesting to see as the service unfolds further... welcome... iCloud...
